• Asperger’s syndrome (AS) is generally thought to be a mild form of autism. Because Asperger’s syndrome has only recently been diagnosed in the United States, it is unclear how many people have the disorder.
• Epilepsy and seizures affect over 3 million Americans of all ages. Approximately 200,000 new cases of seizures and epilepsy occur each year. In about seven out of ten people with epilepsy, no cause can be found. One in 10 adults will have a seizure sometime during their life.
• As many as 1 out of 5 people in the U. S. has a learning disability. Almost 3 million children (ages 6-21) have some form of a learning disability and receive special education in school. 4.7 million children between the ages of 3-17 have been told they have a learning disability.
